Biography

Dr. Xiaokan Zhang is working as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine, Columbia University Medical Center, USA, since 2013. She has completed her B.S. in Biological Science from Nankai University, Tianjin, China in 2008. Later, she has received her Ph.D in Biochemistry from Hunter College, CUNY, New York, USA in 2013. Dr. Zhang has published her papers in reputed international journals and participated in several international conferences.

Research Interest

Dr. Zhang’s current research interest is to use cardiac progenitor cells as a model to study cardiovascular signaling. More specifically, she is interested in investigating the role of STK25 in human cardiomyocyte AMPK signaling and function, and how STK25 is involved in cardiovascular diseases.
