Biography

I have published 23 original scientific papers (5 reviews) in high impact journals, 6 in journals ranked as D1 and 3 in Q1 journals, all as a first author: Trends in Neurosciences, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), Journal of Neuroscience,... My h-index is 13, cited more than 700 times. Invited to several events as speaker, some scientific (IBAGS, Meeting of the Mediterranean Neuroscience Society, SENC,...); and others for scientific disclosure, such the event organized by the Parkinson Action Network to present my research to the Members of the Congress of the United States in Capitol Hill, Washington D.C. (2014).

I have been successful obtaining funding from national and highly competitive international agencies (e.g., European Research Council (ERC-Marie Curie Individual grants (IF), Fulbright Association, and granted funding from Parkinson Disease Foundation and the National Parkinson´s Foundation as a IP.). In 2008, I was awarded by the American Association for the Advance of Science (AAAS) with the Excellence in Science Award.

I am an expert evaluator for the Research Executive Agency (REA) of the European Comission (EX2014D178613) and the French National Research Agency (ANR). I am also a reviewer fo r international scientific journals: Cerebral Cortex, Movement Disorders Journal, Frontiers in Neurosciences, Frontiers in Pharmacology and Neuromodulation. I am a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), New York
Academy of Sciences (NYAS), International Basal Ganglia Society (IBAGS), Society for Neurosciences (SfN),Federation for European Neurosciences (FENS) and Sociedad Española de Neurociencia (SENC).

At last, I have been qualified as Assistant professor by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation of Spain (ANECA) in May 2012 and have broad teaching experience. I am collaborating with teaching in San Pablo-CEU Univeristy, Universidad  Complutense de Madrid and Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (Master thesis). I am currently the supervisor of 3 PhD students (UAM and UCM), one of them just defended her project in September 2022(UCM) and currently supervising 2 Master Students (CEU and UFV), having directed 8 master thesis in the last 3 years.
