Dr. Banikalyan Swain is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Immunology at University of Florida. He has received his PhD in Biotechnology from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, India in 2014. His doctoral work was on “Molecular Characterization of NOD-like receptors modulating the innate immunity in Indian major carps”. He worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), India from 2014 to 2015. He is continuing as a Postdoctoral Associate in Curtiss-Clark-Curtiss Research Group, University of Florida since October 2015, and his work focuses on the regulation mechanisms of innate and adaptive immune signaling pathway in fish, especially those triggered in response to bacterial, viral and parasitic infections. He has developed the recombinant attenuated Edwardsiella piscicida vaccine (RAEV) vector system to deliver protective antigens encoded by genes from other fish pathogens to stimulate all branches of the immune system of fish.
My current research interests are molecular mechanisms of bacterial pathogenesis and immunity of marine aquatic organism towards needle-free vaccine development. Effects of RAEVs in modulating the innate immune responses on mucosal surfaces.
Scientific Archives is a global publisher initiated with the mission of ensuring equal opportunity for accessing science to research community all over the world. Spreading research findings with great relevance to all channels without any barrier is our goal. We want to overcome the challenges of Open Access with ensured quality and transparency.
