Biography

Graham Ellender is currently working as a adjunct senior lecturer in Dentistry at the University of Adelaide, South Australia. Graduated at University College Hospital, London with degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery, practice in general practice before appointment at the University of Western Australia (1971), followed by lectureship at the University of Melbourne where he gained the degree of Master of Dental Science, followed by a PhD in Experimental Pathology researching in biomaterials, connective tissue healing and bone remodeling. Practiced in acute traumatic oral injuries with respect to both clinically and psychological management. Undertook rural practice in conjunction with winemaking. Developed an interest in flavor perception, wine and social responsibility, and influence of loneliness and social isolation on mental health. Currently working on olfaction and taste in aging and chemotherapy, the influence of sound on olfactory acuity, and the relationship of masticatory function and olfaction on cognitive decline, and ‘altered eating’.
