Samuel S. Badalian, MD, PhD, Chief of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology / Women’s Health at Bassett Healthcare Network in New York is also a Clinical Professor of the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Upstate Medical University, State University of New York. Dr. Badalian received his MD degree in 1981 from Yerevan State Medical University and continued his education and research by receiving a Ph.D. degree in Physiology in 1986 and a Doctor of Medical Science degree in 1990. In 1992, he completed his fellowship program at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City and continued to work at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of College of Physicians & Surgeons at Columbia University. The following 3 years, he published numerous scientific papers and became a worldwide expert in his field. Sam completed his residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York and is now Board-Certified in both Obstetrics/Gynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS).
Dr. Badalian served as a contributing editor and reviewer for the Journal of “Obstetrics and Gynecology” from 1995 to 2005, “Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery” and a grants reviewer for the American Urogynecological Society Foundation. He has authored more than 45 scientific journal articles, book chapters, and abstracts and is an internationally recognized lecturer and pelvic surgeon. By being an expert in pelvic surgery, he was invited on multiple occasions to perform and teach the newest technologies in pelvic reconstruction to different countries like Russia, France, Ghana, Kazakhstan, and Armenia.
