Biography
Dr. Saravanakumar Murugesan is a Research Scientist in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Murugesan obtained his Ph.D. in Biochemistry (Cardiovascular Pharmacology) at Annamalai University in India. He then worked as a Lecturer at Hadhramout University College of Medicine in Yemen in the Department of Medical Education. Next, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Prof.Irene Mackraj's Laboratory at UKZN in South Africa. Then, he moved to US at the Dr. Dan E Berkowitz Laboratory and working as a Research Scientist from 2019. He has published over 25 peer-reviewed articles and obtained over 400 citations. His research interests include cardiovascular pharmacology, particularly pre-eclampsia and exosome biology. Dr. Murugesan is actively serving as Reviewer for more than 15 international journals from reputed publishing houses. He is a member of American Heart Association and International Society of Extracellular Vesicles.
Research Interest
Dr. Murugesan’s research focuses on 1.Cardiovascular Pharmacology, 2.Pregnancy induced hypertension, 3. Extracellular Vesicles Biology in preeclampsia, 4.Vascular Dysfunction and Cardiac Hypertrophy.
