Amrita Basu received her M.Sc. in Applied Microbiology in 2010 at VIT University (India), and earned her Ph.D. in Ecotoxicology at RECETOX, Masaryk University (Czech Republic). She has worked in the field of toxicology focusing on stem cell based models and cancer cell models for Environmental health in 2D and 3D. She was involved in various other additional projects such as Environmental endrocrine disruptors and male fertility and Imunomodulatory potencies of toxic cyanobacteria encompassing molecular biology, toxicology and cell and developmental biology. She also received an Erasmus grant to pursue additional 3D studies on 3D models in Italy. Presently she is working as a Post Doctoral Research Assistant at the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center at the Weiss Lab to study the regulation of glycosaminoglycan biosynthesis using functional genomics and genetic engineering techniques.
