Biography
Dr. Giovannino Silvestri's postdoctoral research at the University of Maryland Baltimore sharpened his expertise in exploring the role of microRNAs in the complex interactions between leukemic stem cells, stromal cells, and immune cells, leading to several influential publications. His research interests span beyond chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), as demonstrated by his contributions to the Institute of Human Virology, where he worked with Dr. Robert Gallo and team on pivotal projects aimed at understanding and combating viral and immune disorders. Dr. Silvestri's engagement in COVID-19 research highlights his adaptability and dedication to addressing global health challenges, as he worked alongside Dr. Gallo and Italian scientists at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and research institutions in Italy to identify potential therapeutic targets for SARS-CoV-2. Since 2023, Dr. Silvestri has been serving as a Research Associate at the Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Maryland Baltimore, USA.
