Pierre Pandin is anaesthesiologist in Brussels, Belgium, at the HUB Erasmus Hospital, the university hospital of the Université Libre de Bruxelles. He has been working there for over the last thirty years. He practices neuroanaesthesia and, among neurosciences is dedicated to the study of the functioning of the central nervous system, particularly during the anaesthetic and the perioperative period. During the last decade, he has been also particularly attached to develop a structured approach of the neurosonology examination in cooperation with our colleagues, the neurologists, to have as quick as possible as much as possible of information’s about the cerebral blood circulation at bedside of the patient wherever he may be. His approach to neurosciences remains global, trying to correlate as much as possible the almost permanent evolution of the most theoretical and fundamental notions with the daily practice of everyone in order to make our practice evolve for the benefit of patients. In this context, he is working to make popular the multimodal brain function monitoring using a hollistic method applicable to a maximum of different categories of patients by considering not only the pharmacological aspects but also the neurological and circulatory (brain blood supply) concerns. Pierre Pandin is an active member and takes part in the activities of several scientific societies including the European (ESAIC) and American (ASA) general societies and other specialised societies (SNACC, ESNCH, IPEG, SUA, SESAM, ESRA, ASRA, ANARLF, SNCLF). In addition to his publications, he regularly participates in expert group activities, courses and master classes focusing on the interactive interface between researchers and clinicians. He is regularly involved in writing chapters and books on the subject
