Prof. Dr Moataza Hassan Omran is the Dean of Biotechnology Research Institute and is a member of the board of Directors of the National Research Center since 2022 till present date. Also, she has been the former Head of the Microbial Biotechnology Department for six years since 2019 till August 2025. Furthermore, Dr. Moataza has been a member at the Graduate Studies & affairs Committee, and in addition for being a member of International Relation Office, National Research Center. Also, she is a member of the editorial board of Journal of Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology. Prof. Dr Moataza is specialized in Biomedical Biotechnology. Dr Moataza has worked at the NRC since 1991 and was awarded the State Incentive Encouragement Award in Biological Science from the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology in 2007. Also, she received the Scientific Encouragement Award in Biomedical Biotechnology from the National Research Center in 2008. Moreover, Dr Moataza has done the Sequencing of the core region and HCV E1 E2 regions of different 41 Egyptian isolates (13 isolates of the core region) and (28 isolates of E1 E2 region). These sequences had been submitted and published in Gene Bank. Furthermore, she has Supervised on 13 theses: 7 (PhD) and 6 (M.Sc.), reviewed on many projects and manuscripts in different International & local Journals. Besides, Dr Moataza has participated in several national and international projects. Also, she had been travelled to Italy (scholarship for one year), France, and Turkey in different scientific emissions of conferences participation and workshops. Dr Moataza has great experience in different fields as Molecular Biology, Virology, cancer, genetic diseases, biomedical biomarkers, infectious diseases.
