Dr. Dr. Hasanen Al-Taiar is a distinguished Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist at the Oxford Clinic Medium Secure Unit. He is internationally recognised for his leadership in forensic psychiatry, medical education, and mental health governance. He holds Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych) and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).
Dr. Al-Taiar serves as an examiner for both the Royal College of Psychiatrists' CASC exams and the GMC’s PLAB 2 assessment. He provides expert forensic psychiatric opinions to HM Courts, the Parole Board, and the Mental Health Tribunal. As Chair of the Mental Health Act Approvals Panel (South of England), he plays a pivotal role in national psychiatric governance. He is also an Honorary Clinical Tutor at Oxford University, Associate Medical Education Fellow, and an academic mentor for the American Psychiatric Association.
His published research spans forensic risk, ethical and cultural psychiatry, and medical pedagogy. His contributions have earned him national and international accolades, including inscription on the Royal Society of Medicine’s Wall of Honour. Dr. Al-Taiar remains an active member of the American Psychiatric Association and a passionate advocate for global mental health collaboration.
