Dr. Wan X. Yao received his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Kinesiology from Auburn University, Alabama, USA, and currently is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology, Health, and Nutrition (KHN) at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Dr. Yao produces scholarship on a consistent basis by focusing on publishing his studies in prestigious journals such as Frontiers in Physiology, Frontiers in aging Neuroscience, PLOS ONE, Journal of Neurophysiology, and American Journal of Sports Medicine. Dr. Yao’s research interest is in neuromechanisms underlying bilateral transfer of motor skill learning and imagery practice. In the past, Dr. Yao obtained funding as a Principle Investigator (PI) or a Co-PI from external funding agencies such as National Institute of Disability and Rehabilitation Research, San Antonio Life Sciences Institute, and US Department of Defense.
1) The effect of feedback and practice conditions on the acquisition of motor skills; and 2) Neuromechanisms underlying muscle contractions and cross-education of motor skills.
